Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial scheduled for Sunday October 16, 2011

The Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial dedication celebration has been rescheduled for Sunday, October 16.  Originally, the dedication celebration was scheduled for August 28th in honor of the 48th anniversary of the March on Washington and Dr. King’s famous “I Have a Dream” speech.

The new dedication celebration is open to the public and will not require tickets– that includes any tickets purchased for the August 28th dedication.  It will be held at West Potomac Park on the site of the memorial.

Notable leaders expected to participate in the dedication include President , Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar, members of the King family and several civil rights leaders and activists.
The dedication will kick off at 9 AM with music and keynote speakers with the ceremonial dedication program following at 11 AM.  For more information on the upcoming dedication, click here.
