The Embassy of Uzbekistan presented The Silk Road Dance Company

The Embassy of Uzbekistan presented The Silk Road Dance Company’s special performance of Uzbek dances. Since its inception in 1995 the Silk Road Dance Company (SRDC) has delighted audiences around the country with traditional and fusion dances from the Middle East and Central Asia. Performing Uzbek, Afghani, Tadjik, Azerbaijani, Kurdish, Persian, and Egyptian dance techniques rarely seen in the United States, their performances offer a unique glimpse of the life, culture, and art of little known regions.

The evening featured a dinner buffet feast of traditional Uzbek delicacies, a performance of Uzbek dances, as well as a wonderful opportunity to tour the embassy’s rare collection of beautiful paintings and art pieces.

Francophonie Cultural Festival 2012 Presents Maria De Barros

A true global citizen, singing sensation Maria de Barros — born in Senegal, raised in Mauritania, and influenced by her Cape Verde Island ancestry — fuses into her music the rich and distinct rhythm variations of Africa, Brazil, the Caribbean, Spain, and France.

In concert, de Barros re-creates the electric and eclectic atmosphere of a contemporary Cape Verde club, blending traditional Criolu daubed with bright flecks of Latin pop and African soul.

Described by The New York Times as simply "irresistible", Maria de Barros takes audiences on a joyful musical journey that transcends languages and cultures in an exhilarating celebration of diversity.

Maria connected with the audience and had the Embassy France rocking.

Art Basel - White Cube Party at Soho

From December 1 through 4, Miami Beach, Florida, will host the 10th edition of Art Basel Miami Beach, the most prestigious art show in the Americas. More than 260 leading galleries from North America, Europe, Latin America, Asia and Africa will take part, showcasing works by more than 2,000 artists of the 20th and 21st centuries.

To mark its 10th edition, Art Basel Miami Beach will inaugurate a new collaboration with the Bass Museum of Art on the Art Public sector, which will transform Collins Park with unique artworks and performances by renowned artists and emerging talents. For the first time, Art Video will be presented in SoundScape Park on the large-scale outdoor projection wall of the New World Center, designed by Frank Gehry. The free public viewings will be part of a number of special events and performances taking place across Miami Beach for the duration of the show to celebrate the 10th edition.
